POLIBIZ – While the two top presidential tickets of Republican and Democrat have the same focus on battleground states, they have different approaches when targeting specific groups of voters. For Trump, he tends to spend more time for religious voters such as Jewish, Christians, Muslims; while Harris continuously offers special incentives based on races such as Black or Latino.
Despite Trump being Christian, his daughter Ivanka Trump's family all follow Judaism. |
Trump promises peace for religious practitioners
Donald Trump is a Christian and his beloved daughter Ivanka Trump’s family is all Jewish. The religious belief makes him tend to favor religious activities, and show respect for the freewill of religion practitioners, emphasize on the peace and harmony he would try to create for the religious communities rather than some economic benefits.
In his rally in Wisconsin in Sept 2024, Trump called out: "My promise to Jewish Americans is this: With your vote, I will be your defender, your protector, and I will be the best friend Jewish Americans have ever had in the White House.” Trump’s fair play with the US ally Israel during his first presidency planted the seeds for gaining Jewish voters in this presidential race. Religious-sensitivity helps him wisely navigate to avoid upsetting the American Muslims as well as other believers of religion different from his.
During the Hispanic Summit Roundtable on 24th Oct 2024, Trump was prayed for by the Bible believers – a vivid sign that he has a strong Christian voter base, but the issue is how to increase their turnout for voting.
Basically, respect, peace and harmony are all what Trump offer to them.
Kamala Harris baits economic benefits on ethnic groups
The Vice President has some advantages over Trump in targeting race-based groups such as Blacks and Latinos thanks to her “self-proclaimed” Black origins and the legacy left by Obama and Biden. In 2020, Biden's victory relied on the overwhelming support from both groups, specifically backed by 92% of Black voters and 59% of Latino voters according to a Pew Research Center analysis.
Kamala’s campaign seems to be confident about and ignorant of these two voter bases at the beginning, but had to hastily put them back into their priority agenda when pollsters show that she was losing support from these groups by a 5-10% percent points.
To bait the two groups back, Kamala offers some tax incentives and extra handouts which are superior to other ethnic groups in the nation. The offered policies are found “unconstitutional” at first sign, and can be deemed a racist agenda against other ethics such as the Whites, the Asians ...
Supposed that Kamala obtained the presidency and managed to get her policies enacted, how this could be implemented in reality? For example, how a Black applicant proved his/her eligibility for the benefits – based on birth certificate, the declaration of their ancestors or based on the dark density of their skin? How the cases of mixed ethnicity would be solved? How the reactions of other ethnic groups in the society would be when they would suffer from inequality in access to business opportunities? Basically, not all Whites are rich and not all Blacks are poor.
One of the ridiculous in Kamala’s policy for the Blacks is “to legalize recreational marijuana to create opportunities for Black Americans to succeed in this new industry”. Legalization of recreational marijuana can be good, can be bad; but the decision should be based on health, social impact analysis; not originate from the false motivation to help some groups to earn money.
In contrast, Donald Trump does not offer any specific policies for certain ethnic group. He always said his economic agenda is for every American.
Naive fish is still eager to bite fake baits, that’s why the fishing still exists in the nature and all societies.
