Donald Trump: The person not wanting to make a Russia–Ukraine deal won’t be around very long

In a talk with press at the White House on 3rd Mar 2025, the American President said that "The [Ukraine] deal can be made very fast. It should not be that hard a deal to make ... Now, maybe somebody doesn't want to make a deal. And if somebody doesn't want to make a deal, I think that person won't be around very long." A few hours prior, Ukrainian President told AP News that a deal to end the war between Ukraine and Russia “is still very, very far away” and he believed the American aid would keep flowing.

Donald Trump added that “I believe that Russia wants to make a deal. I believe that the Ukrainian people want to make a deal, because they have suffered a lot”.

The American leader also explained why he wanted to strike a rare minerals deal with Ukraine. At first, the minerals are important for the manufacturing of big engines which the USA is going to make. Secondly, that deal is a way to make the USA equalize with European countries who have actually provided aids to Ukraine in the form of secured loans and they would take their money back.

“When I have known it [European aids are secured loans], I think it’s time for us to be smart”, he added. The President also reason that, it’s the war on European  continent, so if the USA gives 1 dollar the Europeans should give 1 dollar.

Trump emphasized that what he really wanted was to stop seeing young people from both sides die. “Thousands people die each week, last week was 2700, most of them are young boys”, he added.
