The USS Delaware (SSN-791), a Virginia-class nuclear attack submarine, found itself stranded off Norway’s coast after Haltbakk Bunkers, one of the country’s largest marine fuel suppliers, refused to refuel it. The company referred to the televised meeting between Zelenskyy and Donald Trump at the White House on 28th Feb 2025, praising “huge credit to the president of Ukraine” while denouncing that the “USA put on a backstabbing TV show”.

Haltbakk Bunkers also announced to stop as fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwayan ports. It also called on Norwegians and Europeans to follow its example.
Although Haltbakk Bunkers is a private company and it does not reflect the voice of Norwegian government – which is a NATO ally of the USA, its action is expected to encourage the Trump Administration’s determination in further cutting down their financial contribution to NATO.
Norwegian Government seemed to take prompt actions to remedy the situation. In a statement, the country’s Minister of Defense Tore O. Sandvik said that “This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy. I can confirm that all requested support has been provided. The U.S. and Norway maintain a close and strong defense cooperation. American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway”.
Many Americans have taken on social media to request the Trump administration to take strong measures in response to Haltbakk Bunkers' actions, such as banning all employees of the company from entering the US, banning all US citizens and businesses from doing business or providing services to this company... If these measures are applied, Haltbakk Bunkers would likely face major business risks when all transactions related to the US are blocked, they are unable to access the largest social networks today, and unable to use services and software provided my American tech giants like Google, Microsoft.
