On the illustration, in 2008, Elon Musk stood close to his liberal fellow (left-wing politics) in the left-right political spectrum, deviating from the center, so he could be called then a "leftist".

In 2012, Elon Musk still stood in the same position, but the liberal guy ran further, more and more radical, so now Elon's position felt in the midpoint between the right and the left, so it can be said that he was a centrist then.

By 2021, in the same position, but now Elon Musk has become a "rightist" and is warmly welcomed by the right as an ally; when his progressive fellow hit a new progressive milestone.

In the left-right political system, left-wing politics (sometimes called liberalism) refers to the political leanings that favor justice and progress in society, often opposing the rule of law, social stratification and social inequality and are often associated with the welfare states. The leftism is often expressed through movements against social injustices such as feminism, civil rights, LGBT rights, multiculturalism, anti-war and environmental protection.

In contrast, the right-wing politics (sometimes called the conservatives) promotes social stratification and hierarchy as well as nationalism and protectionism - religion beliefs and spirituality; emphasizes hierarchical order in society, patriotism, the combination of society and individual's responsibility to society, discipline, respect for traditional values.
