FLORIDA - Despite the record fundraising of more than $1 billion for the presidential race, Kamala Harris is ending her campaign with a debt of $20 million, according to Politico's California bureau chief Christopher Cadelago. The information has not been confirmed by Harris’ campaign. In response to the rumored debt of his old opponent, the presidential race winner Donald Trump offers to do “whatever we [Republicans] can do to help them [Democrats] during difficult period”, since his campaign still has “a lot of money left over”.

According to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), as of 16th Oct 2024, the Vice President’s campaign had received $1,009 million and the ending cash on hand was $118 million, meanwhile the official Trump campaign raised $392 million with $36.2 cash left.
Kamala’s campaign was celebrities-oriented, through the endorsements and/or appearances, speeches and sometimes music performance at her rallies by American acerbities such as Cardi B, LeBron James, Martha Stewart, Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres, Beyoncé, Ben Stiller, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Jay Z, Jennifer Lopez, Leonardo DiCaprio ... In general, it was a very expensive strategy.
She also outspent Donald Trump in running advertisements both online and offline and making premium ads videos.
Even if the debt is true, it’s very unlikely for Democrats to accept any offer of help from the President-elect. They can manage to call for some extra donations or obtain some additional transfers from other committees. $20 million is actually nothing compared to $1000 million they used to have in their account.
It’s not clear whether Trump’s offer to help comes from his guts or is just a way of mocking.
