FLORIDA - In a new Agenda47 video, President-elect Donald J. Trump announced his plan to sign an Executive Order (EO) on Day One to end automatic citizenship for children of illegal aliens, outlaw birth tourism as part of his overall plan to secure the border.
The EO is said to be based on a “correct” interpretation of the 14th Amendment, that U.S. Citizenship extends only to those both born in AND “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States.
The President would make clear to federal agencies that, going forward, the future children of illegal aliens will not receive automatic U.S. citizenship, and should not be issued passports, Social Security numbers, or be eligible for certain taxpayer funded welfare benefits.
The Executive Order would also stop “Birth Tourism.”, through which tens of thousands of foreign nationals enter the U.S. each year during the final weeks of their pregnancies for the purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship for their child.
Under the current interpretation, the children of these foreign nationals are then eligible to receive a host of government benefits reserved for U.S. citizens, including a myriad of welfare programs and taxpayer funded healthcare, as well as chain migration and the right to vote.
The Executive Order would require that at least one parent be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident for their future children to become automatic U.S. citizens.
