USA - Less than 70 days into the end of Biden-Harris Administration, Democrats raised various options for Kamala Harris’ career path after her defeat in the presidential race with Donald Trump. Some suggested US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor should retire so President Biden may nominate Kamala for the position; some even called for Biden to resign so the Vice President could become the first-ever female President of the USA. Despite being at the age of 60, Kamala is being treated as a beloved child, in that people must give up their sweet candy and award it to her.

Heading east to the Supreme Court?
Justices of the US Supreme Court have a life-long career, and not subject to terms or duration of services. Usually they only resign/retire when they find themselves too old or unable to perform their duties. Sonia Sotomayor born 1954 was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2009 is still “young” in consideration of the average retiring age of Supreme Court Justices at 75, however she is diagnosed with diabetes.
It sounds a safe solution for Democrats because in case Sotomayor would have to retire sometime between 2021-2025, it’s Donald Trump who has the authority to nominate a justice in replace – someone is believed to be Right-leaning. This option would secure Kamala’s political career after she has to handover her Vice Presidential seal to JD Vance.
However, it’s not easy for Democrats to implement such a solution. The average time to confirm a judge is 55 days, with all the holidays coming up it would be impossible. And most importantly, no judge is about to retire. According to CNN, Sotomayor insisted to remain at court.
Moving residence to the White House?
Taking over the presidency from Joe Biden is not a wild idea, since the topic has been widely discussed about when Biden started showing signs of amnesia, especially during his presidential debate with Donald Trump. Kamala once succeeded in seizing the presidential candidacy from Biden, in a development that many Rightists described as “a coup”.
By replacing the current president, the prophecy of being the first female President may come true for a while, but there would be no substantial added-value for her future career or her party. The whole nation would be blown into hasty state proceedings, ceremonies, events for the installation of a new president who would preside for just a few weeks even just for a few days. Foreign leaders would be busy, in a ridiculous way, with making phone calls to her for congratulations, after their calls with Trump a few days ago.
But the activists for such an idea seem to forget the most powerful man in the world at the moment and the decision-maker in this regard – Joe Biden. The president looked happier-than-ever-before when delivering his remarks on Donald Trump’s victory. Just 3 months left for his terms, he may prefer spending more time working on something called “Biden’s legacy” to moving out of the White House to spare the place for his vice.
