A few hours after the USA Government decided to pause all military aid to Ukraine, the war-torn country’s president took on X to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. He wrote “My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts”. Regarding the meeting at the White House late Feb 2025 in which the American leaders considered him “disrespecting” and “insulting” Americans, Zelenskyy used the phrases “it is regrettable” and still declined to offer a formal apology.

“Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively”, Zelensky wrote.
“And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins”. The Ukrainian leader referred to Trump’s supply of American-made, Javelin antitank missile systems to Ukraine during his first term in office in around 2018. It was the Javelin system that helped Ukraine knock out Russian tanks right at the beginning of the war.
Ukraine is also ready for a truce in the sky and in sea, if Russia agrees to do so. Previously, in response to news about a truce proposal envisioned by European leaders, Russian Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that “The Kremlin believes that increased funding for Ukraine from Europe is needed not for a peace plan, but for the continuation of military actions”. Russia may cast doubt on any truce which can be a plot for Ukrainians and Europeans to gather forces for later mass-scaled retaliation.
It's still clear such a simple X post without any formal apology is enough for the USA Government and Donald Trump himself to resume talks with Zelenskyy. However, it’s still a good news for the American President before he delivers his first address at the Congress on 4th Mar 2025 night.
