Donald J Trump Focuses His Efforts in Battleground State Pennsylvania as the Race Tightened

With 21 electoral votes, Pennsylvania (PA) has been eyed by both Trump and Harris as a battle ground State of which the winner would largely secure his/her path to the White House. After a massive rally in Indiana PA on 24th Sept, Trump is going to make his second stop on 5th Oct at Butler PA – the same place where he survived the first assassination attempt.

In his speech in PA, Donald Trump discussed the plans to bring down energy costs, including terminating the Biden/Harris’ ban on gas export, reviving the gas exploitation industry, bringing back jobs for the mining and oil & gas workers. He promised to cut down the energy and fuel cost by a half within 12 months, if voted to be elected.

In terms of international relations, Trump pledges to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine; and some solution to counter the rival nations.

In the same day, ahead the above rally, Trump had a casual roundtable with PA farmers who presented their business difficulties because of increasing fuel and fertilizer costs while competing with cheap agricultural imports. They also raised concerns about the situation of Chinese buying a lot of farmland in the State for solar energy making, which would leave permanent environmental consequences in the future.

In response to the farmers’ concerns and questions, Trump pledges to revive the national power, oil and gas industries, strike a deal with China to make them buy more from American farmers, and ban Chinese from buying farmland in the US.

Trump won PA over Clinton in 2016 but lost to Biden in 2020 both by a small margin. According to Rasmussen’s poll as of 22 Sept, Trump and Harris are toe-to-toe in a close race at 48% each in this State. A recent poll by the New York Times also revealed the same trend; however a poll as of 19 Sept by Morning Consult found Harris leading Trump by 2 points.
