NEW YORK - A few days ahead the American presidential election day, New York State Authorities raided into the house of Mark Lagon and seized his two famous pets Fred the Raccoon and Peanut the Squirrel which were later euthanized, that is now creating a firestorm on social media, heating the anti-government sentiments in certain portions of the public.
The orphaned Peanut was adopted by Mark 7 years ago and had since become a social media star on his Istagram and Tiktok accounts. The squirrel is the cornerstone of Mark’s animal rescue operation, including an animal sanctuary which is now popular to and beloved by many animal-lovers.
In a video, Mark said around 9 authority personnel raided into his house, set him outside for 5 hours and kept searching for the two pets and then killed them. The raiders performed the raid based on a search warrant signed by 4 departments and authorized by a judge.
Most observers claim that the action of New York State was “evil and cruel”, “going too far”, “a bureaucratic abuses” or “far from and against any common sense”. Considering the blue wall state of New York now being ruled by Democrats, the execution of Peanut may slightly affect the preference of undecided voters, especially animal-lovers, when they go to the polls on 5th Nov.
